Zoom is officially rebranding from Zoom Video Communications Inc. to simply Zoom Communications Inc., signaling its transformation into an AI-first platform. CEO Eric Yuan described the company as now offering “modern, hybrid work solutions” designed to enhance productivity and human connection in an evolving workplace landscape.
Once synonymous with video conferencing during the pandemic, Zoom is moving beyond its video-first identity as it faces stiff competition from Google AI, Microsoft copilots, and Slack. These tech giants bundle video features into their broader office productivity suites, making it harder for Zoom to stand out. In response, Zoom has expanded its offerings with the full Zoom Workplace suite, including team chat, email, and AI-powered productivity tools.

Central to this shift is Zoom’s AI Companion 2.0, launched in October. It introduces advanced features like meeting summarization and customizable digital “twins” equipped with organizational knowledge, promising to save users significant time and potentially enable four-day workweeks.
This rebranding reflects Zoom’s ambition to stay competitive in the post-pandemic workplace by leaning into automation and integrated solutions.
